We are all children of the same universe
The Church of the Old Tree was founded in order to fill a void that has long been present in this area. We are all children of the same universe, however, there has been an ever present gap in services provided for some religions.
The Wiccan religion, being one of the religions experiencing this void, is misunderstood by many, and thought of as evil by others. The truth is that Wicca is a peaceful belief system that can be traced back for many thousands of years.
In order to fill the above mentioned void, and provide services for all religions, this ministry was formed. Reverand Jeff is working to spread understanding, and to help all regardless of what they believe.
You will not be judged no matter your religious preference, race, or lifestyle choice. We all need to have a more open mind, and be more accepting.
We provide services for all, regardless of your religion, beliefs, or your lifestyle choice!
Oldtree Church like most religious organizations is a not for profit operation. We do however have a need to cover our costs and expenses. Because of this we do charge a fee for some of our provided services.
We also appreciate, and accept monetary donations to help with the expenses of running the ministry. Donations can be made annonymously through Paypal on this site.
The expression Handfasting, refers to the traditional early Celtic marriage ritual of Handfasting. Dating back to medieval times, and originally a Celtic custom of betrothal, it became commonly adopted as a legal marriage in the Tudor era.
During the ceremony, hands are used to exchange rings, the modern addition to the tradition. The couple's hands are then tied together, in an act called handfasting. This tying together of the couple's hands signifies the unbreakable bond shared between them.
Today, handfasting is a symbolic ceremony to honor a couple's desire for commitment to each other, and to acknowledge that their lives and their destinies are now bound together.
We will meet with you to discuss your needs, and then, a ceremony will be designed around the results of the consultation.
From traditional to completely custom ceremonies, we will work with you to make sure your ceremony fulfills your vision.
The more commonly recognized means of joining a couple would be the modern wedding ceremony.
Vows and rings are exchanged per the modern customs of the religion practiced by the couple.
We will meet with you to discuss your needs, and then, will work with you to during this consultation to assess the type of vows you desire.
From traditional to completely custom ceremonies, we will work with you to make sure your vows fulfill your vision.
Today there are basically two types of ceremonies that are used to send off our loved ones. The more traditionally known "Funeral" ceremony, and the Celebration of Life ceremony.
It's not surprising funerals have been around for a very long time. Composed of three activities, the visitation, the funeral service, and the committal service, performed at the graveside; this funeral is the one we'd easily recognize from contemporary literature and film.
The Visitation: Held prior to the funeral, often the night before but sometimes on the same day, the visitation (or viewing) is a time when people come to support the family and, more importantly, pay their respects to the deceased. This often involves stepping up to the casket to view the body; either in the company of a member of the surviving family or on your own.
The Funeral Service: Most commonly held in the funeral home, the traditional funeral service is led by an officiant of one kind or another; most commonly a pastor or possibly the funeral director. This individual follows a very predictable funeral order of service which includes the singing of hymns; and invocations, Bible recitations, Scripture readings, and prayers led by the officiant.
The Committal Service:This takes place at the cemetery, after a slow and respectful automobile procession from the place where the funeral was held. The committal service ends when the casketed remains are lowered into the ground, and final prayers are said.
Celebration of Life
While a funeral, as we've described it above, has more to do with the orderly and often spiritually-defined; a celebration-of-life is more concerned with telling the story of the deceased. Celebrations-of-life are just that: a time people come together more to celebrate the unique personality and achievements of the deceased than to merely witness or mark the change in their social status.
Celebrations-of-life are similar to memorial services, which can be described as a hybrid event; combining the flexibility of a celebration-of-life with many of the activities of a traditional funeral order-of-service.
We will meet with you to discuss your needs, and then, a ceremony will be designed around the results of the consultation. From traditional to completely custom ceremonies, we will work with you to make sure your ceremony fulfills your vision.
Consultations and General Ministerial Services have no associated fees
It is our mission to provide ministerial services to all regardless of religion, race, or lifestyle choice!
The Church of the Old Tree was founded on the basic belief that we are all children of the same universe and, derived from that basic belief, has established two core tenets by which we conduct ourselves:
Do only that which is right. Every individual is free to practice their religion in the manner of their choosing, as mandated by the First Amendment. So long as that expression does not impinge upon the rights or freedoms of others and is in accordance with the government’s laws.
